RV Vertical Bike Racks
Our racks are fully compatible with camper vans such as the Mercedes Sprinter, Dodge ProMaster, and Ford Transit, as well as Class C RVs with a short rear overhang. These vehicles experience far less hitch movement and stress than larger RVs, making them well-suited for our bike racks.
However, at this time, Panache Rack™ does not offer a bike rack solution for RVs, fifth-wheel trailers, or trailer campers.
We are continually working on new products to meet the needs of all cyclists, and we encourage you to subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated on future releases.
Why We Do Not Recommend Using Our Racks on RVs
1. Increased Vibration and Stress
RVs and travel trailers create significantly more vibration and movement at the hitch compared to regular vehicles. This constant shaking, known as "hitch bounce", can put excessive stress on the bike rack, leading to premature wear or even failure over time.
2. Extended Rear Overhang
On many RVs, the hitch is located far behind the rear axle, creating a longer lever arm that amplifies the forces acting on the rack. This added torque increases stress on the rack, hitch, and bikes, making it more likely to experience instability or structural damage. For this reason, we do not recommend mounting our racks on any vehicle with more than 72 inches of rear overhang (measured from the center of the rear axle to the rear of the vehicle).
3. Warranty Limitations
Many high-quality bike rack manufacturers, including Panache Rack™, do not recommend using their racks on RVs because the extreme forces involved can void the warranty. Using a rack in conditions it's not designed for may compromise its long-term performance and safety.
